Religious festivities
Sicily is place of countless religious festivities. During decades, some celebrations have been revalued their solemn sense, others have been transformed in real popular folkloristic and colorful traditions in order to thank God and earth.

February and August
It’s The third most important holy celebration in the world. It’s very moving and full of history. It takes place in Catania.

May and September
Three Martyrs brothers S. Alfio, S.Cirino e S.Filadelfo have been celebrated with wonderful illuminations, fireworks and bells’ sound.

This celebration is strectly connected with the S.Agata fest. Her holy festivities are very touching in Siracusa and Belpasso (CT)

Genuary and July
One of the most participating of all East Sicily, it has place in little countries near Etna, like Viagrande and neaby sea in AciCastello.

Big celebrations in a lot of Sicilian countries. Acireale, Avola, Melilli… each city praises S.Sebastiano in a very particular ways

Along East cost, in cities like Ragusa, Vizzini and Acitrezza a lot of celebrations for patron saint. Ritual candles, processions and cultural events for him.

Virgin Mary comes from sea in a little traditional boat, adorned by lights and flowers. A beautiful atmosphere from sunset to night.

During Christmas weeks there are a lot of living nativity scene, in which local people stand for ancient crafts and holy portrayal, in cities like Mineo, Acireale and the wonderful Caltagirone.

Carnevali di Sicilia
In Sicilia Orientale vantiamo di alcuni fra i più belli dell’isola come a Palazzolo Acreide, in cui la bellezza dei carri allegorici si mischia a sapori locali grazie alle Sagre della salsiccia, dei cavati, dei legumi e del dolce, degustazioni gastronomiche a base dei cosiddetti cavatieddi, un tipo di pasta condita con il sugo di maiale, e non solo… Altro importantissimo evento carnevalesco, speciale per la qualità dei suoi costumi e delle sue maschere è il Carnevale di Misterbianco, che vanta i costumi più belli della Sicilia, che ogni stagione hanno una tematica diversa.
Sicilian Carnivals
One of the best of Sicily it’s in Palazzolo Acreide, in Siracusa hills. Here the Carnivals is accompanied by some countryside festivals based on typical food, such as sausages, fresh pasta with pig gravy (called cavatieddi) and legumes.
In Acireale, there is one of the most important Carnival of Italy. It’s special for its carnival floats, to which many people work all the year! The festivities are on February, but also on April, when Flower Festival takes place in order to greet Spring.
Misterbianco Carnival boasts the best and coloured costumes of Sicily, they represent with costumes and masks a different theme each year.
